Venturefest Scotland 2016 Feeder: Futureproofing Innovation

Skills Development Scotland
Glasgow Science Centre, Tower Base
Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - 15:00 to 18:00

Businesses, public engagement experts and science educators come together to explore how we can raise awareness of career opportunities in Scotland's space sector and futureproof this exciting industry. This event is part of Scotland’s 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design.

The session will begin with a welcome by Dr Deborah McNeill, GSF Festival Director. We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker will be Craig Clark MBE, CEO and Founder of Clyde Space.  Skills Development Scotland Key Sector Mangers Ronnie Palin and Billy Scott will introduce the proceedings with an overview of the skills investment plan and mechanisms for developing the young workforce, before we head into our first group discussion. We wish to explore themes such as how innovation is supported within your organisation and what skills are key to future success/ achieving growth.

Louise Chisholm, Skills Development Scotland, will give a short overview of the My World of Work Live! programme followed by a practical demonstration of content which will led us intro the second of our group discussion sessions. The focus here will be on any existing engagement your organisation currently supports with schools or other learning environment and what examples of challenges do you think are relevant to the industry that we could use to shape into practical and inspirational activities for young people (age 10-15).

As an official feeder session for Venturefest Scotland 2016, Dr Susie Mitchell, Glasgow City of Science will  introduce the various opportunities to connect with Venturefest Scotland   before inviting you to join us for a networking session amid the My WOW Live! space in the Science Centre.
