The event will introduce the Association for Project Management, hear from people who have recently joined the profession and an employer of project managers.

This event is aimed at students on project management courses of all types and those who have recently started work as project managers. It will provide an introduction to the Association for Project Management, types of membership and benefits for members.

Three project managers who have recently started in the profession will speak about their work and their path to their current job. The speakers come from the defence electronics, IT and construction sectors. This will give students and other newcomers to project management an insight into the nature of day to day project management work in these three sectors, as well as an appreciation of the different routes into the profession.

An employer who regularly recruits graduate project managers will give tips on job applications and interviews.

There will be an opportunity to network with other project managers, members of the APM Scotland Committee and students from other courses.

This event will be repeated in Edinburgh later on in 2016.

Gavin Burrows is a project manager at the CENSIS Innovation Centre for Sensor & Imaging Systems, establishing and managing advanced technology projects between companies and universities.

Gavin also acts as Higher Education Institution (HEI) representative for the  APM Scotland Branch, engaging universities & colleges to share information on APM activities and seeking opportunities to support students, lecturers & other staff.

Brenda Jones leads WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Management Services team in Scotland and the North of England. She regularly recruits graduates and oversees their professional development.  She has been involved with project management for over 20 years and is an active member of the APM Scotland Branch.
