Innovate UK: BALI Project Stakeholder Engagement Workshops

Innovate UK
Seminar Room - University of the West of Scotland (Paisley Campus)
Thursday, February 11, 2016 - 09:30 to 12:30

The overall vision of the BALI (Built Asset Life-cycle Intelligence) project is to explore the feasibility of developing a web-based tool that will collect, monitor and analyse the whole-life performance of a built asset. This will allow the optimisation of the user-defined performance of the asset in real time, and inform the optimum design of future assets. It is envisaged that the tool will be used in a BIM-enabled environment. The project is funded by Innovate UK and carried out by Whole Life Consultants Ltd and the University of the West of Scotland.

Engagement with practitioners is critical to the success of the BALI project. Accordingly, this focus group workshop will be a valuable opportunity for those practitioners involved in shaping the digital built environment to enrich BIM capability. The workshop provides the opportunity for practising professionals to learn about the BALI tool and its concept. Delegates will also have an opportunity to:
interact and explore the extent to which the BALI system reflects the collaborative life-cycle process
brainstorm and debate its role in collecting, monitoring and analysing the whole-life performance of a built asset
contribute to the direction of its future development

The expected outcome of the focus group meeting is to shape the functional and technical requirements of the BALI system that will meet the users’ requirements and preferences.
