The Encompass Team is pleased to announce that registration is now OPEN for the jointly partnered Encompass and Centre of Defence Enterprise (CDE) networking event.  At this event, innovative science and technology providers can find out how to access proof-of-concept research funding opportunities from CDE.  Head of CDE, Andy Nicholson, will introduce CDE and give an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers.
 
Delegates will also have the opportunity to pre-book face-to-face meetings with CDE, Dstl and military experts to discuss potential proposals for either the enduring challenge competition or one of the themed competitions:
 
 
ONGOING COMPETITION:
The Enduring Challenge
 
£3m budget per year. Previously known as The Open Call.  Competition is open continually. Typically funds proposals in the range of £40-£100k for work of 3-9 months duration.  The Enduring Challenge Competition is open to all highly innovative research ideas that challenge existing conventions and have a high potential benefit for the military. Military Advisers and technical experts from Dstl (the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) will give details of the areas where innovative research ideas are being sought.
 
NEW COMPETITION:
Synthetic Biology Applications in Defence
 
For highly innovative synthetic biology approaches relevant to defence and security. The scope of this competition is deliberately broad to encourage novel ideas applicable to land, air or maritime.  Up to £1million available in fully funded contracts. Competition closes 6th November 2014
 
NEW COMPETITION:
Defence Medical Sciences
 
To identify new and innovative science and technology to enhance the level of medical care that the Ministry of Defence provides to its deployed armed forces. This competition aims to promote military resistance and preparedness through (i) Technologies for Health Surveillance and (ii) Advanced Medical Systems for Field Care.  Up to £500,000 available in fully funded contracts. Competition closes 13th November 2014
