Circulus, a Scottish circular economy business specialising in a repair led approach to electronics and critical materials recovery, has achieved Certified B Corporation status, scoring 115.6 points and placing it among the top 15 Scottish B Corps.
The accreditation follows the company’s rebrand from WEEE Scotland in February this year, reflecting its evolution from a traditional waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) operator into a repair led, asset focused circular economy partner. The certification marks a significant milestone for the business, reinforcing that strong environmental and social performance can go hand in hand with commercial growth.
Established in 2013, Circulus has grown organically by helping organisations extract greater value from electronic assets through repair, refurbishment and the redeployment of high value components back into supply chains. This approach reduces reliance on virgin materials, lowers carbon emissions and delivers tangible cost savings for customers operating at scale.
The company’s model is increasingly relevant to organisations across the UK managing large volumes of electronic equipment containing scarce and critical materials, where supply chain resilience, cost control and environmental performance are becoming closely linked. For clients such as Costa Coffee, Circulus’s circular asset management approach delivers measurable impact, including a reduction of approximately 747 tonnes of carbon emissions annually — equivalent to the energy use of around 170 UK homes for a year or 900 return flights between London and Glasgow.
Circulus’s B Corp score reflects a long standing commitment to people and planet. The business is a Real Living Wage Employer and a recognised Supported Business, providing accessible employment opportunities and long term career pathways, while maintaining strong ethical governance and transparent impact measurement.
Its work has been recognised through multiple accolades, including awards for innovation, sustainability and community wealth building, as well as being named Climate Action Champion at the Scottish Impact Awards 2025.
Circulus also plays an active role in advancing the UK’s circular economy ecosystem. The company works closely with research bodies such as REACT (Responsible Electronics and Circular Technologies), universities and innovation partners across the UK, and is currently participating in an innovation programme supported by Innovate UK and Innovate Canada, delivered in partnership with The Royal Mint and Canadian collaborators, Excir.
Commenting on the accreditation, Gerry Docherty, Managing Director at Circulus, said:
“Becoming a B Corp isn’t about a badge — it’s about having a robust framework that challenges us to keep improving as we grow. Alongside our recent rebrand, it sets a clear direction for the next phase of the business: responsible growth, real impact and long term value for our customers, our people and the wider economy.”
Circulus joins a growing number of UK businesses using the B Corp framework to redefine success through greater transparency, accountability and positive social and environmental impact.
