PRESS RELEASE
CeeD (Centre for Engineering and Education Development) is set to host its flagship industry awards for Scotland’s manufacturing sector.
The CeeD Industry Awards, which is in its fifth year, will take place at The Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Thursday 29th February in association with Volvo Construction Equipment and Rokbak. Presenting a unique opportunity for engineering and manufacturing companies, academic organisations, and partners to come together, the event will recognise the achievements of the many businesses that have excelled, despite the challenges the sector has faced over the past year or so.
The ceremony will be hosted by Shereen Nanjiani, broadcaster and former main presenter of STV’s ‘Scotland Today’ news programme for nearly 20 years.
Joe Pacitti, CeeD Managing Director, said
“With the growth in quality applications and the number attending the awards ceremony reaching well over 640, it is indeed testament to the importance of the engineering manufacturing and technology sectors, and the value they place in peer-to-peer best practice sharing and the important role CeeD plays.
“The categories, focused on Skills and Talent, Cyber Resilience, Productivity and Innovation, have again shown a remarkable number of fantastic case studies from across the sector – so much so, that every one of the entries would be worthy of recognition.”
Minister for Small Business, Innovation, Tourism and Trade Richard Lochhead said:
“It’s great to see so many strong applicants to this year’s CeeD Awards. This highlights the strength and vibrancy of Scotland’s industrial sector, supported by the ongoing work of CeeD in tandem with the Scottish Government’s Making Scotland’s Future programme. The Awards continue to grow each year across key, distinctive categories that showcase the hugely important and exciting work happening in this crucial sector.
“This year the Awards take place during CyberScotland week, and the Scottish Government is pleased to be sponsoring the Cyber Resilience Award, which helps to highlight the crucial importance of all organisations being resilient to cyber threats. We want to make the most of technological advances while keeping Scotland digitally safe and secure.”
CeeD received over 100 applications and the shortlist for each category has now been announced – see appendix attached.
Dave Pearson, Director of Star Refrigeration and Chair of Ceed, commented
“It is staggering to see how this event has become the ‘go to event’ in just five years to bring the diversity and size of organisations together to recognise and celebrate the achievements of some of the best-established and rising-star businesses and individuals in Scotland.
“I am especially pleased that the themes around NetZero, which are close to my heart, have continued to grow with a significant level of great applications. The stories and projects submitted for the CeeD Awards show that Scotland is indeed making its mark towards a Low Carbon economy – although we still have a way to go!”
The 2024 CeeD Awards have attracted some new and exciting sponsors, which demonstrates that the companies making up this sector are prepared to lean in and support one other to drive prosperity in the economy.
Joe Pacitti added
“Judging has been very difficult this year. It has been so very close across all the categories, and I’d like to congratulate everyone who entered the 2024 CeeD awards.”
