Meet the Award Sponsor - Women in Engineering/Manufacturing

As a past winner of this award (2023), Arthian (established 01 December 2024 following a merger between Mabbett and IKM) are delighted to sponsor the Women in Engineering/Manufacturing Award at the CeeD Industry Awards 2025.

We are striving for equal numbers of women/men represented in STEM roles.

In 2017, Geraldine Boylan, Director - Sustainability established a ‘Women in STEM Working Group’ to act as female ambassadors to engage and inspire female students at school and further education to raise awareness of the STEM career paths available to women in the environmental and engineering sector, and wider industry. Our Women in STEM activities include:

  • Provision of female scientist/engineering judges on an annual basis to the Go4Set Programme to support judging of STEM projects for 13/14 year olds.
  • Attendance at schools and university careers fairs to provide female role models for science/engineering careers.
  • Undertaking mentoring for early-career environmental and engineering professionals.

Geraldine Boylan, Director, Sustainability Group and Chair of Arthian Women in STEM Working Group comments:

“We were thrilled to have our Women in STEM Working Group acknowledged as CeeD Women in Engineering award winners in 2023 for our activity with schools, early career placements and supporting opportunities for women in technical roles in the business.

"We are delighted to be passing it forwards this year, as award sponsors for the 2025 Women in Engineering Award. We’ll be celebrating finalists and presenting the award to this year's winner at the CeeD awards in March. There is still a way to go for equal representation in engineering, but there is also much to celebrate on the journey!”

Meet some of our female engineers and what inspired them to embark on a career in engineering.

Mahsa Javidnia

As a Civil and Geotechnical Engineer, Mahsa analyses soil and rock parameters, slope stability, ground-bearing capacity, and soil settlement to ensure safe and stable foundations for all types of structures. It involves site investigation, risk assessment, and designing solutions to prevent ground-related failures.

“I chose engineering to challenge norms and innovate. Engineering empowered me to create, lead, and inspire future generations.”

Keighley Ziolkowski, Manager - Process Safety

“I studied chemical engineering as I loved problem solving and this path has so many options and opportunities.  I immediately became a Process Safety Consultant on graduation and haven't looked back!

"I love finding out about client processes, bringing a fresh perspective to the compliance challenges and helping to tackle them."

Conchi Lopez

As an energy engineer, Conchi helps clients reduce their carbon footprint through energy audits and sustainable solutions.

“I was inspired by my family’s passion for science and maths and chose to study chemical engineering which led me to a career in energy efficiency.”

We wish all those shortlisted the very best of luck and look forward to the awards night to celebrate with the winners and those shortlisted.
