Rautomead Limited are specialists in the design, development, manufacture and sale of continuous casting equipment and technology for non-ferrous metals such as copper, copper alloys, gold and silver.
Privately owned, and based in Dundee, since 1978 Rautomead Limited has focused on the design, development, manufacture and sale of continuous casting technology to serve a number of markets including wire and cable, foundry and precious metals processing. End-user applications include automotive, high speed rail, jewelry and mints throughout the world.
Rautomead continuous casting machines are used globally, with over 400 machines now operating in some 45 countries.
Rautomead HQ in Dundee houses all function, including R&D, design, project management, manufacturing operations, sales and marketing and finance, as well as a full after-sales spares and technical support service . The company is supported by country agents throughout the world to facilitate the sales process.
Continuous casting machines utilise a wide range of technical engineering disciplines and technologies, including design, mechanical, electrical, controls, materials and structural, as well as involved supply chains and project management requirements. This in turn provides requirements for skills in all aspects of product provision, from design, R&D and manufacturing, to installation, commissioning and after-sales support.
As a capital goods manufacturer, innovation is a key strand of the company’s strategy. This covers both product and process development, resulting in new equipment and processes for non-ferrous alloys which are used in the latest generations of high speed rail and automotive cabling.
Additional current R&D activities are also attempting to create new markets for company’s technology and capability into new areas such as lead, zinc, aluminium and nickel alloys.
The company employs some 50 people, and operates from the Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate in Dundee.
