Glencraft is one of Scotland’s oldest continuously operating manufacturers, producing hand-crafted mattresses in Aberdeen since 1843. We combine traditional techniques, including hand side-stitching, with modern production methods to supply high-quality products for retail, hospitality and international markets.
We are a social enterprise and operate on a fully commercial basis.
Around 70% of our workforce live with visual impairments or other barriers to employment, contributing their skills daily in a professional manufacturing environment. This inclusive model ensures our products carry both quality and social value.
Our mattresses are used worldwide by discerning individuals, luxury hotels and Royal households, and we are proud holders of a Royal Warrant. Alongside this heritage, we continue to invest in sustainable practices, using natural materials, operating on a made-to-order basis to reduce waste, and supporting circular economy principles through mattress recycling.
Glencraft demonstrates that Scottish manufacturing can be competitive, inclusive and sustainable, while remaining firmly rooted in local heritage and purpose.
