240327 Introduction to Becoming Operationally Excellent

CeeD are delighted to share another fantastic workshop opportunity for CeeD members aimed at introducing you to developing value adding Operational Excellence thinking and fundamental Continuous Improvement principles.  Hosted at the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS) the workshop will take place on Wednesday 27th March 2024 from 9.15am to 4.30pm, and be delivered by the University of Strathclyde and the Manufacturing Skills Academy from NMIS.

The morning session will introduce related concepts such as the value proposition, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing as mechanisms to build a successful operational excellence strategy. Practical examples will be provided to help delegates gain a better understanding of what might be required to get started on the operational excellence journey.

Topics will include:

  • The need for change
  • Building a value proposition
  • Introduction to Operational Excellence
  • Six Sigma vs Lean Manufacturing
  • Improving organisational performance through measurement

The afternoon session will then build on the morning Operational Excellence session introducing delegates to methodologies of Lean Manufacturing and the fundamental principles of continuous improvement. Through practical activities and examples delegates will be introduced to some of the fundamental Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.

Topics will include:

  • Continuous Improvement pillars
  • Brief history of Lean Manufacturing and Lean principles
  • Understanding customer value
  • Understanding how the work gets done
  • The importance of measurement
  • Root cause analysis & graphical representations

This workshop is for CeeD members and also forms part of our Sow the Seeds programme.
