Factory Tour at CA Models site in Stirling.

Established in 1983, CA Models has been setting the standard for excellence in the rapid prototyping industry for 40 years.  Specialising in Additive Manufacturing, printing in (Titanium, Aluminium, Stainless Steel, SLA, SLS, FDM,DLP), Precision 5 Axis CNC Machining and specialist Model Making. Including Vacuum Casting and Painting ( wet painting, powder coating, anodizing, zinc plating etc.)

CA Models is an established, revered rapid prototyping and model making business, working across many industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Formula 1, Marine, Medical, Oil & Gas and Product Design.

Market leading in-house technologies combined with a skilled, experienced team ensures that CA Models prototyping services continually surpass customer expectations across the UK and Internationally.

During the tour we will look at SLA ( Stereolithography) this is printing from resin.

We will run through the different materials that we currently offer and how the process works.

SLA is used for Models & Prototyping. From form, fit & function prototypes to wind tunnel testing.

We will look at DLP ( Digital Light Processing) which is a different process but again is widely used for prototyping but is ultra fast & can produce repeatable accurate parts in production grade material.

SLS ( Selective Laser Sintering) prints from powder and is much stronger than SLA and doesn’t require supports which allows you to print hinged parts.

FDM ( Fused Deposit Modelling) uses real materials ( Not simulated) so you can make production parts and they won’t degrade.

Vacuum Casting, once you have made your master in SLA and hand finished to a very high standard you can then get duplicates cast that will come out to the same high standard without the hand finishing of every part.

DLMS( Direct Laser Metal Sintering) We currently print in Stainless Steel, Aluminium & Titanium. This can be used for prototyping or for end use products.

In our machine shop we have several 5-Axis CNC Machines along with Wire EDM Machines and our manual precision turning & milling machines. Situated in the machine shop is also our CMM Inspection Room.

Within the factory we have a paint shop which has a spray booth with water wash wall & drying area.

Finally we have a model shop where we assemble many models that are promoted worldwide for various high profile companies.
