As a CeeD Board member & ambassador,  & strong advocate of peer to peer knowledge exchange, Karen Stewart, MD of Nine Twenty,  which are a STEM based recruitment company, will lead an interactive & thought provoking breakfast session discussing how we can win the war for talent in the 'new normal';  & along with a panel of specialists will focus on how businesses can change & flex to help make the people strategy more innovative & agile.

Meet our Panel

Karen Stewart, Nine Twenty

Karen is a CeeD board member and MD of Nine Twenty, a boutique STEM based recruitment company will come to share her insights into the candidate landscape and be able to share some quick wins on how business can be more proactive in attracting and retaining their talent.

She has 14 years experience of working closely in the Manufacturing sector and has a real passion for building the workforces needed in industry now and for the future.

Nikki Slowey, Flexibility Works

Nikki is the Co-Founder and Director of Flexibility Works. She is one of Scotland’s leading experts in flexible working and has dedicated the past eight years to directly supporting and encouraging employers to create flexible workplaces. She is a regular media commentator, public speaker and has contributed to research and books on flexible working.  Nikki’s background is in marketing and communications, previously running her own communications consultancy. Her career started in the finance and property sectors but as a true social entrepreneur, Nikki has been drawn to working with, and for, non-profit organisations.

Emma Bodiam, SmartSTEMs

Emma is a Project Manager at SmartSTEMs, a charity which works with disadvantaged young people across the country to ensure a positive destination. Using STEM as the vehicle, we want young people to understand the opportunities available to them and the importance these subjects play in their lives and future. Emma has a background in Geology, PR and fundraising, alongside a passion for inspiring young people which found her working for SmartSTEMs.

Gary Gillon, University of the West of Scotland

Gary is a Lecturer in Management, and Programme Leader BA (Hons) Business Management (Graduate Apprenticeship) at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). Originally from an HR and finance background, his academic interests lie in the area of education with particular focus on the integration of formal and informal learning in higher education. Gary supervises undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations/theses, and delivers a number of modules across all levels within the School of Business & Creative Industries at UWS.

Diane Mitchell, West Lothian College

Diane is the faculty director for computing, engineering and built environment and workforce development. Working at West Lothian College for 18 years Diane has responsibility for supporting industry to reskill and upskill their existing workforce and to identify their future talent requirements through apprenticeships. As a non-executive director on the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce board Diane is passionate about building partnerships between colleges and businesses and recognises that these links are key to unlocking and solving organisations’ workforce shortfall.

This event forms part of CeeD's executive leadership programme, Leading From the Front - 2023 focuses, once again on member challenges & industry trends. The programme builds on the engagement & feedback during our 2022 programme, bringing you a series of events to help face the challenges together in 2023.

Please note the event session will start at 0915 prompt, however, morning refreshments will be available from 0830 to allow for networking.
