Celebrate International Women in Engineering Day!
In collaboration with Failure Modes of Engineering (FeME) network, Centre for Engineering Education and Development (CeeD Scotland), and Royal Society of Chemistry; The Molly Fergusson Initiative invites you to celebrate and mark International Women in Engineering Day.
Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking event celebrating the achievements and contributions of women across engineering, industry and academia.
The afternoon will feature a keynote talk by Dr Nina Baker, OBE, exploring 100 years of women in engineering through the stories of remarkable women whose work helped shape the profession. More than pioneers, these women were innovators, leaders and experts whose contributions deserve greater recognition.
You’ll also hear from a panel of women engineers from across industry and academia, facilitated by CeeD Scotland. Representing a diverse range of sectors, career paths and experiences, panellists will share their personal journeys into engineering, the challenges they’ve overcome, and the moments that shaped their careers.
The event will conclude with a reflective “Letter to Your Younger Self” workshop, giving attendees the opportunity to write messages of encouragement and advice for school pupils considering careers in engineering. Selected letters may later be shared with schools in and around Edinburgh to help inspire the next generation of engineers.
