About the Workshop
Digital twins are transforming the way we design, monitor, and optimise complex systems — from infrastructure and manufacturing to energy and transport.
A Digital Twin is an integrated, data-driven virtual representation of real-world entities and processes, with synchronized interaction at a specified frequency and fidelity (DigitalTwinConsortium, 2025).
This workshop will introduce participants to:
- The fundamentals and evolving definitions of digital twins
- The role of real-time data synchronisation and predictive simulation
- Applications across building services, infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, and smart cities
- Practical insights into interoperability, data architecture, and model fidelity
Live Testbed Demonstration
A highlight of the session will be a demonstration on our Digital Twin Testbed, showcasing:
- Real-time data integration from physical sensors
- System modelling and simulation of performance scenarios
- Intervention and feedback mechanisms between the digital and physical environments
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the testbed, explore the data flows, and discuss how similar architectures can be implemented in their own projects.
Who Should Attend
- Engineers, researchers, and data scientists interested in applied digital twins for data-enabled assets and operations.
- Decision-makers exploring digital transformation
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Understand the core principles and taxonomy of digital twins
- Digital Twins capabilities periodic table (CPT)
- Gain practical insights from a real-world testbed
- Identify how to apply digital twin concepts in their own sector
