Manufacturing’s role in a circular Scotland

Event aimed at manufacturing businesses interested in the circular economy and seeking to capture their on the following question: How to make Circular Economy work in practice for manufacturing businesses in Scotland?
November 10th, 2023 9:00 AM   through   3:15 PM
National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland
3 Netherton Square
Paisley, PA3 2EF
United Kingdom

Building a circular economy is integral to Scotland’s sustainability strategy. However, despite ambitious targets, Scotland is only 2% circular, compared to 7% worldwide and 24% in the Netherlands (Circle Economy, 2023). A circular economy is more than deposit return schemes and managing waste - it involves re-establishing relationships across every supply chain. However, Brexit made exchanging resources across Europe more challenging, especially for SMEs that face difficulties in acquiring sustainable inputs and exporting circular products.

In this free workshop, the manufacturing community in Scotland are invited to join the discussion on circular economy and on internationalisation. More than that, this is the start of an international community of practice that will drive circular economy in the manufacturing space in Scotland. This is an in-person event to promote networking, discussion, and idea exchange between businesses, supporting agencies, and academics from across the UK and Europe.
