In order to mitigate against the effects of climate change, farming and how we farm must change, delivering Net-Zero in Agriculture will require a range of measures:
-
- Improving farming’s productive efficiency;
-
- Improving land management and changing land use to capture more carbon;
-
- Boosting renewable energy and the wider bio-economy
Dr. Jonathan Snape is the Head of James Hutton Limited which is responsible for commercialising the intellectual property, facilities, science and research of the Institute to provide services that address global challenges in a changing environment.
During this webinar, we will hear from Jonathan about some of the problems and challenges that the agriculture sector faces as it strives to improve productivity, mitigate against climate change and move to Net-Zero and the role that engineers and technologists can play and the opportunities for collaboration that exist such as:
-
- Generation of hydrogen on-site
-
- Testing hydrogen-fuelled vehicles
-
- The adoption of small autonomous robots for performing on-farm tasks such as weed control, planting and harvesting
-
- The adoption of innovation in real-life working conditions
Many different industries and sectors utilise the services that James Hutton Limited provides including agriculture, crop science, food and drink and the environment.
