The EU’s Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) came into effect in December 2015 and must be transposed by member states (including Scotland) by December 2017.

Combustion plant with a rated thermal input in excess of 1 MW (which can in some instances be the aggregated rating of multiple plants) will require a permit or registration to operate, and will have to comply with a new range of emission limit values for sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and dust (PM10).

This is likely to impact upon 30,000 – 35,000 combustion plants in the UK, around 2,000 of which are in Scotland.

The speakers will Michael Lynch, Director – Process Engineering & Safety & Jacqui Lang from SEPA.

In this session we will discuss how these changes may impact your business, and how best you can manage the associated risk.

We will also touch upon the wider changes to environmental regulation in Scotland, via the proposed Integrated Authorisation Framework, which aims to consolidate Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC), Waste, Controlled Activities Regulations (CAR) and Radioactive Substances regulation into a single, unified framework.
