In partnership with Scottish Business Resilience Centre, CeeD will host a Cyber Resilience Exercise and briefly touch on GDPR on Tuesday 26th September at Dundee & Angus College, Gardyne Campus, Gardyne Road, Dundee, DD5 1NY from 9:30am to 2:15pm

The exercise will take the form of a table top scenario which will be based upon a cyber-attack on your own organisation.  SBRC have designed the scenario and will develop it throughout the morning with several feeds, which are designed to make you think about how you would respond.  The aim is not to embarrass anyone, but is to encourage you to think about how you would respond if you were the victim of a cyber-attack, what steps you would need to take to return to business as usual as quickly as possible and what impact this has on your continuity plans.

Obviously, Chatham House rules will apply on the day, although the participation will be more about learning outcomes rather than focussing on individual cyber security provisions.  One of SBRC’s Ethical Hackers will be present to provide the technical perspective and we also hope to have someone form the Police Scotland Cyber Crime Unit to talk about evidential consideration.

In addition, we will touch on The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – this will have direct effect throughout Europe from 25 May 2018. The UK will still be in Europe at that time. The Government has confirmed that UK businesses will need to comply.  There has been a lot of speculation about how much of an impact GDPR will have on small businesses and far too much focus on the increased fines. The Scottish Business Resilience Centre will guide you through the main changes within the Regulations and the simple steps that you can take to get ready for 2018.

Who should attend

An excellent opportunity for the person responsible for ICT within your organisation and Data Protection as they will be the first response to any cyber-attack. The initial actions taken can be critical and it is the leaning around these initial steps that we will be trying to encourage on the day.

We have a limit of 15 places available.
