In this session we shall be exploring Forensics of IT, Data Analytics, ISO Standards and Cyber Essentials with:-
Prof. Bill Buchanan - Professor in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University, leads the Cyber Academy thecyberacademy.org, and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute for IT (BCS) and The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET). He currently leads the Centre for Distributed Computing, Networks, and Security, and works in the areas of security, next generation user interfaces, Web-based infrastructures, e-Crime, intrusion detection systems, digital forensics, e-Health, mobile computing, agent-based systems, and simulation.
Adrian Smales - Research Fellow and Ph.D. Researcher within the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University. Adrian’s main areas of expertise are Project Management, Security, and Senior Management. He is currently researching Health Informatics, including electronic health record governance and information sharing. One of his main research topics is using predictive analytics and cognitive computing. Other areas of expertise have been demonstrated as the project manager for the EU funded Dynamic Forensics Evaluation and Training (DFET) project coordinating at a national and European level, lecturing and managing partners. He is a specialist in secure management and sharing of data in key sectors such as healthcare, public services, and law enforcement.
Dr Owen Lo - Dr Lo will be looking at "Practical side-channel attacks on embedded device cryptography (includes demo)" Owen has contributed to numerous research projects including evaluation of a cloud-based e-Health platform (Cloud4Health), implementation of a data governance engine (safi.re), evaluation of an Anonymised, Distributed, e-Commerce Architecture (ADeCA) and development of digital forensic investigation tools (Fragment Finder). His current research area is on side-channel attacks which is a technique used to attack a cryptographic system by monitoring the physical outputs of the system. Additionally, he is involved in the spin-out project named Fragment Finder which aims to develop a suite of digital investigation tools to enable rapid detection of contraband data.
Mark Dennis - Security Consultant at Sapphire. Mark is an experienced and successful senior manager; his areas of expertise include information security and project management. Mark is a versatile presenter often drawing from his experiences working for HM Forces and a large systems integrator and will discuss ISO Training Audit & Certification.
