Over 100 Scottish companies are now structured as EO models enjoying benefits such as higher profitability and productivity, better workforce retention and higher levels of staff engagement and wellbeing than non-EO businesses according to numerous research studies.

Douglas Roberts, Partner at Lindsays solicitors, and Carole Leslie who has 20 years’ experience in the EO field, who between them have advised on around 100 EO transactions will give an overview of employee ownership looking at:

  • how employee ownership works
  • the benefits of employee-owned models
  • the various options for structuring your business as an employee-owned model
  • sector-specific case studies demonstrating successes

If you are a business owner who employs even a few staff and are turning over anything from c£1m+, employee ownership could be the key to your business achieving greater success.

Douglas Roberts, Partner in Lindsays’ Corporate team, is experienced in advising a broad spectrum of clients, including SMEs, family businesses and start-ups, on corporate and commercial contract matters and IP law. He specialises in employee ownership matters and has assisted businesses of various sizes and across a variety of sectors with the legal aspects of their transition to the model.  He has advised on successful transactions in sectors from food processing, engineering and manufacturing, through to care homes, tourism and the first financial services firm in Scotland to become fully employee owned.

Carole Leslie has worked in the employee ownership field for 20 years. She has advised on 80+ transactions and works with employee-owned businesses helping them get the best from their ownership model. Carole is a former Policy Director of the UK’s Employee Ownership Association and works closely with Scottish economic development agencies in promoting the employee-owned business model.
