The Theory of Constraints is a body of knowledge developed to help organisations of any scale, sector or region to survive, thrive and flourish.
What is TOC and why should it matter to me?
TOC – Theory of Constraints - helps organisations to find the best answers to the following main three questions:
1. What do you give? Define the exceptional value your organisation provides to its customers and the limitation you remove for them.
2. What do you get back? Define the business model that will generate exceptional financial results.
3. How are you going to deliver? Great ideas fail in execution. Define the main conflicts that block your execution, and how are you going to solve these conflicts?
People tend to respond differently to these questions depending on their job role:
- People in finance excel in business models but often ignore the value to the customers and operations.
- People in operations tend to overlook business models and defining customer value but excel in delivery and efficiency.
- People in sales & marketing excel in communications and deal making. However they are often unaware of the consequences of their discussions.
Exceptional organisations focus on all three aspects.
