We're supporting Cyber Week Scotland, 22-26 February 2021.

The Scottish Business Resilience Centre are coordinating a series of events during Cyber Scotland Week. This event concerns security certification for IOT devices.

IASME Consortium has piloted a new security certification for connected (IoT) devices with a group of manufacturers across the UK, including a number of early-stage micro businesses in Scotland.

In this session, Jamie Randall, Head of Technical Strategy for IASME, will share his experience of developing the scheme and getting the first manufacturers to certify.

He will share some of the surprises about the pilot scheme and the learnings that IASME has taken on board about how to guide smaller manufacturers to release secure products.

Jamie will also provide some guidance on the most important things you can do as a manufacturer to ensure your device is secure and that it meets the requirements of upcoming UK and European legislation. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask Jamie for advice about improving security and any other IoT-related security topics that may help your own organisation.

The IoT Security Assured scheme is aimed at start-ups and larger manufacturers alike, and allows devices to be certified to Basic, Silver or Gold level, in alignment with proposed UK legislation and European standards. The standard is priced to be accessible and affordable to organisations of all sizes and is now open to all manufacturers to apply via the IASME website.
