Hosted and facititated by our parnters MacRoberts, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we are delighted to extend an invitation you to a half-day conference to discuss the issues around mental health in the workplace. We will hear a remarkable story from Clutha survivor Michael Byrne on how he copes with complex post-traumatic stress disorder and how it has affected his career and work life. We will also hear from experts from See Me Scotland, MacRoberts and the medical profession on how employers and employees can cope with mental health in the workplace, the impact it can have and the steps and adjustments that can be taken to make life easier for everyone.

09.00 - 09.10: Welcome - John Macmillan, Partner, MacRoberts LLP

09.10 - 09.55: Michael Byrne
A Clutha Survivor, Michael will speak about how he deals with CPTSD and his personal experiences of dealing with mental ill health at work.

09.55 - 10.40: Mairead Rowan, Workplace Officer, See Me Scotland
Mairead will discuss the importance of encouraging staff to open conversations about mental health, and to reflect on good practice. She will speak about how to identify employees who are suffering from mental ill health, and the support that is available.

10.40 - 10.50: Refreshment break

10.50 - 11.20: Deborah Miller, Partner, MacRoberts LLP
Deborah will explain how the law deals with mental health in the workplace, and how employers can avoid discrimination.

11.20 - 11.50: Dr Roy, Integral Occupational Health
Dr Roy will speak about different types of mental health conditions and how they impact employees at work. He will discuss steps and adjustments that can be taken to deal with the impact, and how to help employees manage their mental health.

11.50 - 12.30: Q&A Panel Session, chaired by John Macmillan
A panel discussion with all speakers on the issues raised during the conference, and an opportunity to ask our speakers any general questions you may have.

12.30: Lunch and networking
