In a sector driven by precision, innovation and complex problem solving, people are your most powerful asset. With up to five generations working side by side in engineering ; ranging from apprentices to seasoned technical experts; bridging generational gaps is essential not only for harmony, but for performance, knowledge transfer, retention, and future proofing the sector.

This workshop will explore how engineering organisations can embrace generational diversity to create inclusive, high-performing environments where experience meets fresh perspectives, and knowledge flows in all directions. Through real sector examples including how Star Refrigeration reshaped its recruitment practices through reverse mentoring, attendees will challenge assumptions, spark new thinking, and gain practical tools to turn generational differences into a collaborative advantage. Cross-generational group discussions will also uncover the distinct needs of occupational roles across the sector, building empathy, understanding, and shared purpose.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the Generations: Learn what shapes each generation’s mindset, behaviours, and motivations—and why it matters to your engineering teams.
  • Reverse Mentoring in Action – Discover how younger voices are helping senior leaders rethink recruitment and engagement strategies.
  • Challenge Stereotypes: Replace any assumptions with empathy and evidence, creating a culture of curiosity and respect.
  • Strengthen Collaboration: Learn practical approaches to improve communication, build trust, and boost team performance across generations and roles.
