Research companies and academia have a pivotal role to play in shaping the future of the water sector. Our Wastewater Development Centre in Bo’ness is Scotland’s first full-scale test facility dedicated to supporting research and innovation in the waste water sector. Located on a live, operational treatment works, the centre enables innovators to demonstrate new processes and equipment in a dedicated and safe environment.

The centre benefits from a small-scale wastewater treatment test rig, enabling greater flexibility and scenario testing, as well as a screening area to facilitate testing at the inlet works.

All discharges are then returned into the normal treatment process giving companies unique access to live test conditions without causing risk to operational assets.

Getting there:

Using the address above in Google Maps, the post code will take you to a set of iron gates that are open. Drive through the gates and take the first left. From that point, you will be able to see the site.

• Safety boots
• Hi-vis jacket (waterproof clothing with a hood may also be required)

We can provide goggles and gloves.

Please note, you will not be granted access to the site without the full required PPE. Please let us know as early as possible if you require additional PPE.

For the site tour, we will be outside, please bring appropriate waterproof clothing in case of bad weather.
