Johnstons of Elgin - an Improvement Journey
You are invited to attend our “showcase & tour” of the factory at Johnstons of Elgin, Newmill, Elgin, Moray, IV30 4AF on Wednesday 22nd May from 9:30am for registration, starting at 10am & finishing by 1pm – this will include a tour of the site.
Johnstons of Elgin, world renowned textile manufacturer, celebrates its 222nd year in business in 2019 and for the past five years JoE have being developing a continuous improvement culture. In this session they will share the philosophy and learnings from their journey.
The event will discuss the development of processes and people and the ever-changing demands on process and products with the constant need for change to realign capacity to demand.
Johnstons will share their success and failures and the need for a whole business approach. They will describe the change from traditional command and control to a CI culture and development of people as a core business requirement for success.
The story covers lean, six sigma and the application of the ISO standards and how they have been combined with managers development and use of the Modern Apprenticeship programmes. The themes cover the internal development and the external help the business has sought in order to become a better fit to the demands of the very highest end couture customers.
