Reflections on the CeeD Industry Awards 2024

by Paul Douglas, VP Rigid Haulers & MD Rokbak

We at VOLVO and Rokbak are very proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of the CeeD Awards 2024.  We have been CeeD members for many years and have taken advantage of the excellent network opportunities, the training, innovation, and best-practice sharing sessions which have been on offer.  This has helped us to drive  improvements in many areas of our business.

As stated in the purpose of CeeD, it exists to solve the issues that the members raise, and in business and society today, we are faced with more and more challenges of a nature which is new to most of us, therefore how better to find solutions than to ask a wide and knowledgeable network who may have face similar challenges before.

And now that there are so many areas where we need to learn and grow, and we have enjoyed access to the wide diversity within the CeeD membership, it is really important that we pause and take time to recognise the individuals and companies who have made commitments, given their time and energy to allow others to learn and continuously improve, across many sectors and areas.

Just looking at the list of 15x categories, it is extremely pleasing to see the varied and diverse areas where many CeeD members are now active, and succeeding, and what a pleasure to be able to celebrate those that stand out form the crowd. Several of the categories are very close to our hearts, and that is why we were also proud to sponsor the Women In Industry award once again.  The situation for Women in Industry today continues to improve massively towards gender equality and fairness, but there is still work to do, and the examples around the CeeD community are excellent.

The Awards evening was fantastic, a real tribute to the efforts of everyone at CeeD and their support partners to put this together.  It really is one of the best Scottish Manufacturing and Engineering network events to be part of.

And of course, we were thrilled to win two awards on the evening, the Marketing Award for our efforts across the whole business to develop new and innovative ways to promote our company and opportunities we have, to attract and find the new talent we need to continue our growth and success.  And the Peer Recognition Award which was a complete surprise, and again whilst I was proud to accept the award on behalf of our organisation, it really was on behalf of a wonderful team who turn up every day to find ways to innovate and help our business grow.
